Phil is the founder, lead editor and frequent contributor at Archipelago. Coming from a copywriting background, which eventually led to SEO and digital marketing expertise, it made abs0lute sense to combine travel with content writing – and here we are.

Phil graduated from Newcastle University with a degree in German and has dedicated much time to living in, visiting and enjoying Germany and Austria. Although he is now tied to home by a cat and three children, the adventurous spirit isn’t completely dead and family holidays have replaced the solo trips and group adventures (usually involving music festivals).

Phil’s favourite destinations include Barbados, Croatia, Bavaria, Salzburg, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Amsterdam and the Polish countryside.
